Yes, everyone knows that Vancouver explodes into life with an incredible plethora of festivals each summer. Pride… The Folk Festival… The Jazz Festival… The Symphony of Fire... But fear not, fall travellers, because even when the days start to get a little shorter, Vancouver is still party central. Here are five festivals that keep festival-goers happy each fall…
 

1. Vancouver International Fringe Festival, September 7 - 17

The Vancouver International Fringe Festival is a cornucopia of live dramatic and comic stage shows performed at venues around Granville Island. This year’s festival will see 700 performances by over 90 artists over 11 days.
 

2. Vancouver International Film Festival, September 28 – October 13

Vancouver International Film Festival is another Vancouver mainstay, kicking off on September 28. The festival boasts over 300 films from 76 countries in a format that inspires, engages and entertains through screenings, workshops and creator talks. 
 

3. UBC Apple Festival, October 14 and 15

Now in its 26th year, the Apple Festival at UBC’s Botanical Garden celebrates one of BC’s favourite fruits. From learning about the diversity of apples to tasting rare and unusual varieties, the Apple Festival is a great opportunity to discover more about this delicious fruit.
 

4. Vancouver International Writers’ Festival, October 16 – 22

Visit Granville Island this October for the Vancouver International Writers Festival. The seven-day event will host over 100 local and international authors with over 90 events to celebrate the power of storytelling.
 

5. EAT! Vancouver Food and Cooking Festival, November 6 - 11

This festival of food, chefs’ competitions, special dinners, classes and great cooking is a must for any self-confessed foodie. EAT! Vancouver is one of Canada’s most anticipated culinary festivals.
